APC’s leadership at the Ninth Session of the COSP

The development of international cooperation and institutional experience remain among the priorities of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption. In that spirit, the Agency's delegation, consisting of President of the Council Momčilo Radulović and Director Jelena Perović with their team, is participating in the Ninth Session of the Conference of the State Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (COSP UNCAC), which takes place in Egypt from 13 to 17 December in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt.

The conference will discuss the implementation of the Convention, the only legally binding universal anti-corruption instrument, and discuss the prevention of corruption and improved international cooperation in order to combat this social problem more effectively.

In one of the accompanying programs, representatives of the Agency participated in the plenary meeting for the official launch of the anti-corruption network within the project of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) "Fostering Sustainable Development by Supporting the Implementations of UNCAC in Countries Along the Silk Road Economic Belt"

The President of the Council, Momcilo Radulović, presented the competencies of the Agency, its role in the fight against corruption and cooperation with other institutions, and informed about the updating of the relevant Montenegrin legislation in areas important for the project.

Acting Deputy Director Boris Vukašinović spoke about legal procedures when using the mechanism of corruption proofing of legislation, emphasizing that the OECD stated that, thanks to the Agency's performance, Montenegro has the most developed system of support and monitoring of integrity plans, with a score of 4.5 out of a maximum of 5, by far the best in the region.

During the visit to Egypt, the Agency’s delegation complied with all epidemiological and safety measures for the prevention and control of COVID-19 prescribed by the host country, including the choice of accommodation from the list of safe hotels submitted by the session organizers.
