Agency for Prevention of Corruption

RAI

The Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative (RAI) is an intergovernmental regional organization that exclusively deals with issues of the fight against corruption, including nine member countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania and Serbia.

The RAI was created as a result of the cooperation of the states, institutionalized by the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in the Fight against Corruption through the Regional Initiative to Fight Corruption (previously known as the Anti-Corruption Initiative of the Stability Pact - SPAI), signed in 2007 and the Protocol amending the Memorandum, signed in 2013.

RAI established a joint regional platform for discussion between state authorities and the non-governmental sector dedicated to anti-corruption activities through specialized training and the exchange of modern knowledge, modern communication tools and good practices in a multidisciplinary environment.

When defining strategic goals, RAI monitors events and trends in member countries and progress in the implementation of key anti-corruption documents, focusing on improving transparency, integrity of public administration, raising awareness and implementing anti-corruption mechanisms with results in targeted priority areas.

The secretariat of the organization is located in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
