The delegation was composed of representatives of the Ministry of Justice and the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, which also serves as the national coordinator for Montenegro’s activities within the OECD ACN.
This step successfully implements the decision of the Government of Montenegro adopted in February this year.
Since 2003, the Istanbul Action Plan has been the central instrument of the ACN, based on the principle of mutual monitoring and evaluation of performance in ten key areas, including anti-corruption policy, conflict of interest, integrity of the judiciary and prosecution, whistleblower protection, public procurement, and business integrity. The new, fifth round of monitoring has been further strengthened through clear indicators and broader involvement of civil society and international stakeholders.
By joining the IAP, Montenegro reaffirms its strong political will and institutional commitment to the principles of transparency, accountability, and the rule of law as the fundamental values of a democratic society. At the meeting, participants expressed the expectation that this evaluation process and assessment of compliance with anti-corruption measures across all countries in the region will bring new momentum to the fight against corruption by strengthening institutional integrity and further alignment with international standards.
