The director of the APC participated in the regional forum "Fight against corruption: Western Balkans in focus"

Expressing commitment to the development of institutional practice through the exchange of experiences with international partners, the director of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (APC), Jelena Perovic, participated in the regional forum "Fighting Corruption: The Western Balkans in Focus", held on Thursday, April 7, 2022, in Skopje, organized by the Institute for Democracy "Societas Civilis", Macedonian Center for International Cooperation and Leadership for Development and Integrity in Southeast Europe (SELDI).

Director Perovic was one of the presenters at the session "Strategic partnerships for help against corruption in the Western Balkans", where Vojtek Hons, program officer of the European Union's Directorate General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations, president of the Anti-Corruption Commission of North Macedonia, Biljana Ivanovska, also spoke. Viktorija Nesterovaite from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Rovena Sulstarova from the Institute for Democracy and Mediation (Albania), representative of the Center for European Policies (Serbia) Andrija Mladenovic and Ana Đurnic from the Alternative Institute (Montenegro).

"In the current socio-political context, anti-corruption agencies and judicial bodies are of particular importance and should continuously represent a pillar of guaranteeing the implementation of the rule of law and respect for standards and integrity. The Agency for the Prevention of Corruption has managed to preserve that role in the turbulent political events in Montenegro in the last two years," said the director of the APC.

"Despite various attempts to discredit and question the performance of the Agency, we have achieved the best results since its establishment in 2016. This success was also recognized by the European Commission in the Report on the Progress of Montenegro in 2021, in which the Agency is the best-rated institution in Chapter 23 - Justice and fundamental rights."

The Director of the Agency presented the session participants with concrete results and achieved progress in relations with the media and the civil sector, and informed them of the plans of this institution in the coming period.
