In order to effectively implement the competencies prescribed by the Law on Financing of Political Entities and Election Campaigns, the Agency for Prevention of Corruption has adopted a Control and Monitoring Plan for the election campaign for the elections to be held on August 30, 2020. The Plan defines the activities that the Agency will proactively carry out towards political entities and authorities in order to control compliance with legal obligations, prohibitions and restrictions during the election campaign.
The Control and Supervision Plan was prepared taking into account the recommendations of civil society representatives and international experts during workshops organized this week in Podgorica by the Council of Europe and the Center for Monitoring and Research (CeMI), in co-operation with the Agency.
The plan will be implemented in accordance with the Law on Financing of Political Entities and Election Campaigns, as well as methodologies for efficient control of the Agency, which are defined taking into account the recommendations of international experts and civil society, which were previously drafted by CoE experts in cooperation with the Agency.
The ultimate goal of the effective implementation of the Control and Supervision Plan is to strengthen the integrity of the campaign through comprehensive control of the financing of political entities and responsible use of public resources.
