Held Meeting of the Director of the Agency and Delegation of ODIHR

Director of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption Sreten Radonjić met with the delegation of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), which was led by the Head of the Election Observation Mission of the ODIHR Roman Jakič.

The theme of the meeting was the presentation of the final report drafted by the OSCE/ODIHR Observation Mission related to the parliamentary elections which were held on 16 October 2016.

Representatives of the mission presented the key findings related to the area of control of financing of election campaigns, which concern the need to define the official start and end of campaign, submission of report on campaign spending by political entities during and prior to the Election Day, and provision of adequate capacities and resources for work of the Agency.

Director of the Agency Sreten Radonjić presented the activities implemented with the aim of strengthening the capacities of this state authority, key results of the work in the area of the control of financing of political entities, as well as the planned activities of the Agency. Special attention has been given to the fact that development of the analysis of the legal framework is underway, in which the recommendations will be specified with a view to improving it in the future.  

The joint conclusion of the meeting is that there is a high degree of concordance of views in relation to all aspects of the control of financing of the electoral process. The continuation of cooperation was announced and support of the ODIHR to strengthen the capacity of the Agency. The need to change some provisions of the Law on Financing of Political Entities and Electoral Campaigns for the purpose of making them more precise was emphasized, and proactive approach of the Agency during the implementation of this Law was commended.
